Once again the Birding -- Arizona & The Southwest Facebook page alerted me to a potential photo op. Another local photog had gotten photos of the Cooper's fledgling Sunday, so I knew to head out early Monday morning.
It took awhile to spot the Cooper's babies; I found Mom high in a tree and then watched where she went, and eventually she led me to the area where the babies were well hidden in thick foliage. She brought them some breakfast and they cried and scrambled through the brush to get to her. After feeding them she flew off, likely took a quick dip in the fountain, and resumed her high perch a short distance away.
I could only confirm two fledglings, but there had been three babies in the nest last week, so I hope the third one was lurking somewhere nearby, perhaps watching me watching them.
