Verdin on an Ocotillo cactus flower spike, ASU Tempe Campus, 3/11/12.
This morning I went to Tempe Bridge & Tempe Marsh in hopes of seeing the Brown Pelican again, or perhaps some courting Grebes or other unusual springtime birdnerd things.
So then I went to the ASU campus in Tempe, parked the car and walked down University Avenue in hopes of locating the pair of Acorn Woodpeckers that reportedly hang out in the palms there.
But I did catch a few photos of this little Verdin on an Ocotillo, against a rosy stucco backdrop. Which just reminds me that sometimes the gifts Mother Nature gives us may not be the ones we were searching for, but they're equally sweet.

And speaking of sweet...
through my front window, Mr & Mrs Duh-dove in their nest-in-progress this morning. No eggs yet, just a random carefully selected assortment of twigs.
