In my enthusiasm for photographing birds at the garden and the marsh and elsewhere lately, I've neglected the loyal little friends who regularly keep me company here at home.
Yesterday morning, it was this little lady, perched on the aloe just outside the window by my desk. The cold weather has all of our regular hummingbirds guarding their favorite feeders. Luckily, there are plenty to choose from.
I love the way the aloe brings out the color in the bird in this photo -- very understated and perfectly lovely.
And I don't blame you for not being ready for Christmas...when Santa doesn't even need a coat, it's hard for him to realize that it's time to get busy. Soak up some of that warmth and sunshine for your fellow (frozen) procrastinators up north, will you?

Thank you -- part of the subdued bird color was from the combination of dust & reflected shutters on the window.
If it's any consolation, we have had early morning temps in the 30s this week... brrr! Santa weather!
