My newest bird-related fascination is photographing birds in urban settings. There are a few citified spots in Tempe that provide some reliable birdwatching. This was the highlight of yesterday's visit... a young Red-tailed Hawk, launching from atop a metal light fixture, seen between the blurry horizontal cables of a pedestrian railing.
Here's another shot of what I believe to be the same hawk, taken several weeks ago:
You can see more of my urban birds here on Flickr; it's a set in constant progress, with most recent photos first.
This blog site is absolutely fantastic LuAnne!! Congratulations! Saving to my desktop for easy access! Peg

Thanks, Peggy! Over time, the blog has evolved from being mostly about my sewing & art/crafts to lately being mostly about birds. Thanks for visiting!

Gorgeous! I swear you keep getting better, LuAnne. I love the juxtaposition of the birds with the urban setting -- I know, you do too....duh.

luanne: These are fantastic pictures! Love how the young hawk is about to fly off. The wild turkey shots are super too! Great series!

Thanks for stopping by, Holly! Do you ever see wild turkeys out in your part of northern VA?
