Last time, I mentioned my weekend discovery of the urban bird oasis at Tempe marsh. This is an Osprey, perched on a parking lot lamp alongside the overlook at the marsh. It was sitting there drying off and catching some rays. I spotted it on my way back to the car. A fun surprise!
Very cool, but I can't help but think how glad I am that it wasn't busy eating anyone else... It looks like it could do some damage.

Yes, I wouldn't want to get tangled up with that beak or those talons. Pretty fearsome! Luckily, osprey prefer fresh-caught fish 99% of the time. So I try not to look too fishy when I'm there...
