My new set of five original quilted 12" pieces are now in place over the picture window.
Our Voytek painting must have provided a subliminal inspiration. I chose the Marcia Derse fabrics because I fell in love with them, without a specific project in mind. But then when I saw the color similarities, the wall hanging idea fell into place.
This photo is taken from our front entry, looking across the main room. I've struggled for five years to find or make something for the space above the window that would complement the desert view.
And here you see the overall scene from a different angle. I really like the contrast of the abstract wall pieces against the traditional landscape painting. We both have pretty eclectic tastes, so mixing it up with our art suits us.
Ahhh -- it's always good when a project exceeds my expectations.
(p.s. -- Yes, we're one of those decorator-frowned-upon families who happily have a large TV front & center over the fireplace. We watch it daily & we love it! Personally, I'm glad flat panels have brought TV sets out of the closet/media armoire to be openly enjoyed again. Get real, decorators!)
