Mother Nature currently offers an overwhelming embarrassment of riches for those of us Phoenicians who enjoy photographing flowers, birds and critters.
Like this Echinopsis 'Flying Saucer" cactus blossom, which lasts only a day, as many cactus flowers do. This was the one flower bud on this plant, and it bloomed today.
So many fleeting beauties... and thus my priority is to photograph them now, and catch up with my photo backlog and Flickr posting later, when the blooming slows down.
Your patience is appreciated. Lots of colorful good stuff to come!
Absolutely lovely! I think your priorities are exactly right.

With these persnickety cactus flowers, it really is a case of being there at exactly the right day/hour. Even morning vs afternoon makes a difference. Luckily, I've had a run of pretty good timing. Now the cholla are all coming into bloom, and they seem to enjoy the afternoon heat. Go figure!
