I'm still trying to document individuals among the many hummingbirds that are continually bickering over the feeders. In spring, the backyard feeders were getting all the attention. This week, the single front feeder near my desk window seems to be the hummer hotspot.
Yesterday afternoon I caught this photo of a female with some small darker spots on her throat. She may be the same female who shared the feeder with a male in yesterday's post photos. From the non-rosy throat spots and the white spot behind her eye, my best guess is that she's a black-chinned female.
This morning through the kitchen window, I finally caught this little guy at the feeder. He's a black-chinned male and the current king of the backyard. In between taking sips of nectar, he sits and sticks his tongue out, perhaps *dissing* any would-be challengers.
