Lately my sewing obsession has been these strip-pieced quilted pillows. They've been well received by my 2-legged and 4-legged family and friends. The 20" size seems perfect for lounging, reading, and tv watching. Or just daydreaming, as demonstrated above by our lovely Maddie.
Over the weekend I had the urge to test a new color scheme. So far, so good. I took this photo to illustrate for myself the before & after effect of quilting. I just love the texture the stitching gives, even my simple method of non-free-motion quilting. The texture gets even better once the pillow cover is completed, and I wash & dry it for softness and used-quilt crinkliness. There are probably lots of more complex projects this strip-pieced fabric process could be applied to.
But for now I'm just sticking with my pillows.
ooooOOOO, pretty pillows. Free-motion eh? Looks perfect. My free-motion would give you some emotion (not so good either) but it is free. :-)

Thanks VO! Mine is not-free-motion stitching (in other words, my sewing
machine creates the stitch pattern, not me)... the whole free-motion
quilting thing is something I have yet to conquer. Requires a level of
relaxation+control that I can't manage.

I love all the colors that you used! No wonder every one loves them. I will have to try this one day myself. Wonderful inspiration!
