For the past week, I've been in an official Fall Funk, or as my friend Susan put it:
"discomfited by... descending darkness".
That's an excellent description of how I feel about fall.
So to pretend the days are getting longer instead of shorter, and after too many years of neglect, I spent a few days spring-cleaning my closet, bidding farewell to shabby dear old friends and unworn should-have-known-betters.
When I was first married, I had a small orchid collection. Back then orchid plants were much more expensive and fairly hard to find. Now it's kind of fun to give them another try, and see if I can keep them alive and get them to bloom again. But even if I can't, they're well worth the small investment for this inspiring beauty that lasts for weeks. I definitely think they'll help chase my fall blues away.
